Fire Museum
The New York City Fire Museum preserves one of the America’s most important and attractive collections of fire related art and artifacts from the late 18th century to the present.
Part of the collection are pre Civil War hand pumped fire engines, leather buckets, horse drawn vehicles and early motorized apparatus, helmets, parade hats and belts, lanterns and tools.
For example, one of the earliest fire engines in the collection is the "Farnam" style engine, that was built in New York around 1790, it is one of the oldest fire engines in North America.
The New York City Fire Museum is located in the famous SoHo district of Manhattan in New York City at 278 Spring Street, in a old firehouse renovated in 1904.
