The Ground Zero Museum is dedicated to the memories of the devastating attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City on 9/11.

Originally this place was a firehouse built in 1904 but now this museum displays the complete picture of what happened on that fateful day.

There is a free walking tour through 5 shows which depict the loss suffered by the victims, the survival of some and heroism shown by others.

This is a temporary centre. A permanent one is being constructed and will include a permanent museum as well as a memorial.

The aim of the Ground Zero museum is to raise awareness among people to the heroic acts of the Ground Zero recovery workers, educate students about the ill effects of terrorism, to honour the lives of the people who lost their lives on September 11 and to raise funds for treating the sick and disabled Ground Zero workers.

Re-live the former World Trade Center and the fatal September 11

A New York visit cannot be complete without a trip to Ground Zero Museum: most visitors who want to get to know and re-live September 11 and the "Recovery" visit Ground Zero Museum even before seeing the former World Trade Center site, which is just 8 minutes away by cab or subway.

Tour guides and firefighters will help you imagine what went on exactly inside Ground Zero on the fatal day: firstly through a historical introduction and a 12-minute video presentation to introduce you to the facts; then an interactive walk-through a collection of artifacts of the World Trade Center helps to figure out how was the building before September 11; lastly, the self-guided audio experience and 80 stunning images from the Recovery illustrates in details what happened in that very terrible moments.

Ground Zero Museum is a very interactive visit: in fact, we often use the word "workshop". During the visit, visitors can admire numerous World Trade Center remnants and may pick up and hold some of them; he can walk through lifelike "3-D Installations" that place him right into the former World Trade Center. Furthermore, Ground Zero Museum features over 80 of the most notable photographs from the Recovery, including the Ground Zero Bible Page, the Clock stopped at 10:02 AM from September 11, the "Today is 11" Calendar Page. These images, took by Gary Marlon Suson, the founder and photographer of the Museum, have been featured on the major worldwide magazines and journals.

Ground Zero Museum Workshop is a unique concept, the only original in New York. It is without any doubt a deep emotional experience since it makes visitors re-live the experience of the morning of September 11 and, above all, it focuses on the consequences and on the recovery efforts.

The intention of its founder is to remember not only the two towers collapsing and the view of Ground Zero immediately after the attack, but also what happened behind the security gates days and months after September 11 to recover the World Trade Center site.
