New York maybe is giving up its crown to the likes of Berlin and Buenos Aires as the place-to-be but the excitement and creativity of the city is far from dried up. A night in New York on a budget is no stretch, and really there are no limits; you just need to know where to look.
For entertainment before the main adventures of the night the town is rife with small, experimental and enigmatic theatre and music venues. Check out "Here" on Sixth avenue or "The Flea" on White St., between Broadway and Church St. For Comedy head for "Luna Lounge" on Ludlow St., between Stanton and Houston Streets.
Later on, as the tempo builds, head for "The Slipper Room", a local gem, for high quality burlesque shows that famously never raise the cover charge above $5!
