Tourist Guide Asheville
Asheville is a county seat of Buncombe County of North Carolina in United States. It is considered one of the largest cities in Western North Carolina.
The land was first inhabited by Europeans in the year 1540 by a Spanish explorer named Hernando De Soto. The place was used for hunting till middle of 19th century.
Earlier the name of the town was Morristown but later renamed as “Asheville” by North Carolina Governor Samuel Ashe.
This town went through many hardships and economic crisis that took several years to regain its economic position. Firstly, it was in the year 1865 when Asheville was captured by General Stone man. Although after a negotiation the troops returned but burnt many homes of this town. Then there was Great Depression in the year 1910 and 1920 that hit Asheville hard.
The climate of Asheville remains cold due to its location at a higher altitude.
Asheville has an estimated population of according to 2000 census is 68,889.
