This town is situated 18 miles towards the North of Charlotte, North Carolina and 16 miles towards the West of Concord, North Carolina. This town is a part of the Charlotte – Gastonia – Rock Hill metropolitan region. To reach this town, there are international flights from the Charlotte/ Douglas International Airport. The town of Cornelius was founded in 1905, basically as a farm and mill community. Gradually, the mills were closed down and a dam was constructed across the River Catawba. In recent years, this town has experienced considerable growth due to its proximity with Charlotte.
