Fort Bragg is a major United States Army installation situated in Cumberland and Hoke Counties in North Carolina. The city is situated near Fayetteville and is also a census-designated place. The fort is also named for Confederate Army General Braxton Bragg. This city was established in 1918 as an artillery training ground.

By 1940, the population of the city reached 5,400 and in the following year, it rose to 67,000. As per the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 29,183. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.0 square miles out of which 19.0 square miles is of land and the other 0.1 square miles is water. The total area of the city is 0.32 percent of water.
