There are a number of places to see in Hickory. This includes the Hickory Museum of Art, the Hickory Community Theatre, the Catawba Science Center and the Hickory Landmarks Society. The River Crest Golf Club, the Lake Hickory Country Club and the Drips’ Coffee and Brewhouse are some of the places to visit. There are also entertainment activities, golf courses, public parks and Wineries and Vineyards which attracts tourists from all parts of the world.
One can visit the Bunker Hill covered Bridge which is one of the 2 remaining example in the world of a 19th century bridge having the General Herman Haupt truss design. Then there is the Catawba County Museum of History which exhibits 1924 built courthouse and includes a rare British Revolution era red coat, a 1930s racing car and also a fine collection of local crafted furniture.
There is the Catawba Valley Furniture museum that traces the roots of the furniture industry in Catawba Valley. One can tour the reproduction of the early period of Catawba wood working shops and see an amazing collection of furnishings and vintage tools.
