The Orange County is located in North Carolina State in the United States and in this county the town of Hillsborough is situated. This town is the county seat of Orange County. The gross area of this town is 4.6 square miles out of which almost entire area is occupied by land with the exception of 0.22 percent which is water. This town lies on the banks of the River Eno. At the beginning of the 19th century, the name of this town was unofficially shortened to “Hillsboro.” However, during the late 1960s, the name was altered to the original spelling.
As per the 2000 census, the population of Hillsborough was 5,446.
