Linville Falls is actually a small community which is centered at the US 221 and NC 183 intersection. This community is named after Linville Falls, which is a waterfall near to it in the Linville Gorge Wilderness. The community is also split in sections between Burke County, Avery County and McDowell County in North Carolina.

Some of the attractions here include the Linville Caverns, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Linville Gorge Wilderness. The community is popular for its waterfall, the Linville Falls. This is the largest volume of water of any waterfall on the north side of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
