During April 1985, 21 citizens signed the Charter of the Mint Hill Historical Society. The intention of this society was the preservation of the history of the Town of Mint Hill. This society has the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village where one can view Mint Hill Country Doctor’s Museum, Ira V. Ferguson Country Store, Ashcraft One Room Schoolhouse, Surface Hill Gold Assay Office and Village Outbuildings.
