Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina, USA. It also serves as the county seat of Wake County. Along with the cities of Durham and Chapel Hill, Raleigh forms the Research Triangle area of North Carolina.

Lying between the Great Smoky Mountains to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Raleigh is situated on the gently rolling pines of North Carolina.

Raleigh is characterised by a humid continental climate, experiencing moderate winter, fall and spring. Though, summers are hot and humid. The average annual temperature is 18°C.

The population of Raleigh is approximately 359,300. Raleigh has a huge vegetation of Oak trees; hence, it is fondly referred to as the ‘City of Oaks’. Establishment of the Research Triangle Park has largely contributed to the success of the city’s steadily growing economy.
