Wilmington is a city situated in New Hanover County in North Carolina. As per the census in 2000, the population was 75,838. It is a principal city of the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located at 34° 13’ 24” N 77° 54’ 44” W. The city has a total area of 41.5 square miles. Wilmington city has a humid subtropical climate area.
It is home to several Historic Neighborhoods. Wilmington city supports a very active in performing Arts, and is also home to numerous music festivals. The city has Whites, African American, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander and other races.
Wilmington was incorporated in 1739. The English settlers established in the area in the year 1720. Wilmington had early slavery in the region as landowners used slave labor to exploit the natural resources.
