Missouri River can be described as Mississippi River’s tributary. Moreover, it’s the ‘longest’ river; as far as US is concerned. In the course of time, Missouri River has obtained many sobriquets. One of them is ‘Big Muddy’; thanks to high content on the part of silt. The other nickname obtained is ‘Dark River’. As the river goes on to meander in flat Mid-western states, ‘Wide Missouri’ was the nickname obtained.
