Founded in 1872 the city of Jamestown is North Dakota’s Seventh largest city. The city is located in Stutsman County in USA and is also a county seat. The city is situated at the convergence of the Pipestem Creek and James River. It covers an area of 32.4 square Km.
The city has four distinct climates and can be classified as semi-arid continental. The summers are usually warm and dry while the winters are snowy, sub-arctic and long. The autumn and spring varies highly. There are thunderstorms at times in the area in summers and flooding in springtime is also common.
In 2000 the total population if the city amounted to 15,527. Hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing are some of the recreational activities that can be perused here. The "World's Largest Buffalo” belongs to Jamestown. The City is also termed as the "Pride of the Prairie” and was also called "Jacquesville" till mid 20th century.
