Wahpeton had been founded in the year 1869. It’s amongst the principal cities of Wahpeton metropolitan Statistical Area; inclusive of North Dakota, Richland County, and Wilkin County (Minnesota).
The ‘Otter Tail River’ and ‘Bois de Sioux River’ come forward to have joined at Wahpeton as well as Breckenridge to have formed ‘Red River of the North’. Wahpeton houses North Dakota State College of Science. ‘Wahpeton Daily News’ is the newspaper operating on the local level.
As per US census Bureau, Wahpeton’s total area is of 12.9 sq. Km (all land). The ‘Red River of the North’ goes on to form one amongst the most fertile ‘river valleys’ across the globe.
