The Aberdeen Art Gallery houses a collection of Impressionist, Victorian, Scottish and twentieth Century British paintings as well as a collection of silver glass and also includes a collection of the nineteen century works and a constantly changing collection of work and regular visiting exhibitions.
The Marischal Museum holds the principle collection of the University of Aberdeen, comprising of some 80, 0000 items in the areas of fine art, Scottish history and archaeology, and European, Mediterranean near Eastern archaeology. The permanent display and reference collections are augmented by regular temporary exhibitions.
Aberdeen is home to a host of events and festivals including the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Aberdeen Jazz Festival, Rootin Aboot, Triptych, and the University of Aberdeen’s literature festival world.
Aberdeen hosts many indoor and outdoor games like swimming, rugby, golf, and foot ball game and in November 2008 the city hosted the rugby international at Pittodrie between Scotland and Canada, with Scotland winning 41-0.
