Chillicothe city is situated in US State of Ohio and is the county seat of Ross County. The municipality is situated in southern Ohio along the Scioto River. The name is referred from the Shawnee name, “Chalahgawtha” which means “principal town”. This city is also the largest in Ross County, and is the center of the Chillicothe Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The population of the city was 21,796 as per the 2000 census. As per the 2007 US Census estimates, the city had a population of 22,187 people. In 2009, the population reached 22,187 people with a growth of 1.93 percent.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.7 square miles of which, 0.2 square miles is water and the other 9.5 square miles is land.
