Downtown Cleveland is the central business district presently known as one of the city’s neighborhoods that is gaining population. In 1990, it had 7,261 people and by 2000, it reached 9,599 people. Further, in 2005, it was rated as one of the Emerging Downtown in America by the Brookings Institution. There are both commercial and residential developments which are planned for downtown. Public Square is the heart of this neighborhood and is also the first settled area. East 9th Street financial district is popular in Downtown Cleveland. Further, North Coast Harbor is the tourist district here.
