The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a nonprofit zoo in Powell in Ohio. It has a worldwide reputation and largely attributable due to the efforts and promotion of director emeritus, Jack Hanna. In the year 2009, it was named as the number one zoo in America by the USA Travel Guide. This amazing zoo is home to more than 5,000 animals which represent 700 species and has over 1.8 million visitors each year.  The original Columbus zoo was open for public in 1905 and the present zoo opened in 1927.
