In 1936, the state of Ohio purchased lands which comprised of Blue Rock State Forest. Blue Rock State Park became an official state park in 1949. This park has camping grounds along with many activities like swimming, hiking, boating and such activities. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources maintains the 4573 acres of forest which surrounds the park. The park has scenic picnic areas and also an old fashion fire tower to climb.
