Gallipolis is one of the chartered villages that is located in Ohio of US and also serves the county seat for Gallia County.
The pronunciation of this village is somewhat like this; one has to put the accent on the last syllable rather than the original one which had the accent on the second syllable. The meaning of this word is “City of Gauls”.
This city is the second largest community in Point Pleasant Micropolitan Statistical area and includes all of Gallia County, Ohio and Mason County and West Virginia.
The French were the first inhabitants to settle in this area and was known as “French Five Hundred”. They started dwelling on this land with a Scioto company. Although the French when arrived to this place, they were upset. Due to its strategic location on Ohio River this place attract travelers across the globe.
With beautiful landscape this place has many attractive parks that are meant to spend some time in solitude.
This place has an estimated population of 4180 persons according to 2000 census.
Gallipolis experiences a warm climate that makes the trip to this place very comfortable.
