Tourist Guide Maumee

The city of Maumee is a suburb of Toledo and is situated in Lucas County in Ohio, USA. Located along the Maumee River, the city covers an area of 27.3 sq km and has a population of around 20,000.

Maumee experiences a continental climate. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C and are generally accompanied by thunderstorms. Winters are very cold with temperatures ranging from –5°C to 1°C.

The present site of Maumee was utilized by the Native Americans, and later by the French, British and American forces who tried to gain control on the city. Due to its location on the Maumee River, the city has become a transportation hub.

The Sandpiper boat, built in 1984, has been providing enjoyable sailing experiences along the river ever since. Visitors can appreciate the varied ecosystem of the river and marvel at the beautiful mansions and yacht clubs.
