Tourist Guide Put in Bay
Put-in-Bay is a village located on South Bass Island in Ottawa County in Ohio, USA. It covers an area of 1.7 sq km. Even though the village has around 125 permanent residents, the population swells in summer with visitors and workers.
The village experiences a continental climate. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C. Winters are cold and are accompanied by snow with temperatures ranging from –5°C to 1°C.
This village in Lake Erie is famous for the American naval victory known as the Battle of Lake Erie led by Oliver Hazard Perry against a British squadron. The victory is commemorated with the Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial.
Although the village is cut off in winter, it comes alive in summer with a vibrant marina and a lively nightlife. The Butterfly House and the OSU Fish Hatchery are some of the family attractions. The village also boasts of a historic winery.
