Solon is a city which is situated in Cuyahoga County in Ohio. It is an affluent suburb of Cleveland in the North East Ohio Region. It is also the fourteenth largest Combined Statistical Area in United States. This city was also listed by Money magazine as the 42nd best places to live in the world. The first settlers of the city were from Connecticut in 1820. This township was named after Lorenzo Solon Bull, the son of Issac Bull, one of the settlers.
In 1917, this city was incorporated as a village and later became a city in 1961.
In 1850, the population of the city reached 1,034. From 1960 to 1970, the population doubled from 6,333 to 11,519. It reached 14,341 in 1980. As per the 2000 census, the population of the city was 21,802.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 20.6 square miles, of which 20.5 square miles is land and the other 0.04 square miles is water.
