Sallisaw is located in Sequoyah County in Oklahoma, USA. It has a population of nearly 8,000 residents and a total area of approximately 33 sq km. Some of the prominent nearby cities are Tulsa and Fort Smith.
This city is supposed to have been incorporated on 17 March 1886; it has been under the control of the Spanish, French and Cherokee Nation-Indian Territory, finally becoming a part of the United States.
Sallisaw began as an agricultural community, and it still gives a lot of importance to farming and cultivation, with cotton being an important product. However, with the passage of time, Sallisaw has also seen the development of a market economy with the major components being retail trade, services and so forth.
The city enjoys warm summers and mild winters. The maximum average temperature in summer is around 32°C, and the minimum average temperature in winter is around –2°C.
