Vinita City is situated in south central of Craig County in Oklahoma region in United States. It is the county seat of Craig County. It is located to the south central of Craig County.
Vinita is situated in Northeastern Oklahoma, a region of Green County. The city sits as the Ozark Highland base region with a combination of forest and prairie. As per the United States Census Bureau, Vinita has a total area of 4.3 square miles, and all of it is land.
The population as of 2000 census is 6,472, of which 1,486.9 people per square mile is the density.
Established in 1871, it was the first city in Oklahoma to get electricity. Named first after Downingville, it was an African American community. Later on, it was renamed as Vinita after Vinnie Ream.
One of the attractions of the city is Mac Donald, which is built over the top of the Interstate 44 and it is the largest Mac Donald restaurant in the world with right to its area which is 29,135 square feet.
