The Albany Regional Museum displays the history of the city in a historic building built by S.E.Young in 1887. The site has been relocated twice and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
The downtown region of the city is listed as a National Historic District and has several restaurants, antique stores, the Carnegie library and the Albany Civic Theater. Monteith House a manor house named after Thomas and Walter Monteith who came to Oregon in 1847 and founded the city.
A number of annual cultural events are celebrated in the city from time to time. These include the Northwest Art and Air Festival which is held at the Timber Linn Park, the Veteran’s Day Parade which is one of the largest parades in the west of U.S.A. and the River Rhythms which is annual concert series held in the months of July and August at the Montieth Riverpark.
There are a number of hotels and Inns to stay in and visit places of attraction such as the magnificent Oregon coast, the Linn County Fair and Expo Center, shops and restaurants.
