Baker City is situated in Baker County in the state of Oregon in U.S.A. The city lies in a valley between the Blue Mountains and Elkhorn Mountains to the west and the Wallowa Mountains to the east. The city covers a total area of 6.9 sq miles and has an elevation of 3,451 feet. The Powder River runs through the downtown region of the city and joins the Snake River. As per the 2007 census the city had a population of 10,105 inhabitants. The city is one of the largest gold producers in the Northwest region and its chief economic activities are ranching, farming, recreation and logging. The city experiences a mild climate and has 4 distinct seasons. It is dry and warm in summer, with snowfall in winter and rain showers in spring.
