Tourist Guide Bandon
Located on the southern coast of Oregon, USA at the mouth of the Coquille River; the city of Bandon covers an area of 8 sq km and has a population of around 3,000.
Often referred to as ‘Bandon-by-the-Sea’, the city is bordered to the west by the Pacific Ocean. This allows the city to enjoy a mild weather with abundant rainfall and rare occurrences of extremity. The average summer temperature is 17°C, while in winter the average temperature is 8°C.
Formerly known as Averille, the city was founded by George Bennet in 1873. Due to its proximity to the ocean, fishing became a major industry. Tourism also plays a significant role in the city’s economy.
The Beach Loop Road winds along the shoreline giving access to Bandon’s beaches. It also boasts of some spectacular sea stacks, which are a major attraction. As the centre of cranberry production, the city hosts the annual Cranberry Festival. Its golf courses are also very popular.
