Located on the northern coast of Oregon, USA, the town of Cannon Beach is spread over an area of 3.9 sq km and has a population of around 3,000.
The area receives very little sunshine and snowfall. However, it receives heavy rain throughout the year resulting in the flooding of the coastal streams. The average summer temperature is around 20°C, and in winter, the temperature drops to around 8°C.
Originally inhabited by Native Americans, the area was visited by William Clarke in 1805. Formerly known as Ecola, the area was named as Cannon Beach, after a cannon from a shipwreck was discovered on the beach.
Haystack Rock is the biggest attraction in Cannon Beach, and it is the third largest coastal monolith in the world. The nearby Ecola State Park offers a spectacular view of the beach and is a popular hiking spot. Owing to its weather, the area is blessed with lush farmlands and green pastures.
