Table Rock had been famous as a ‘sanctuary’ with regards to Takelma Indians. There exist 2 mesas pertaining to Table Rock- Lower Table Rock and Upper Table Rock. The latter one is somewhat shorter; and, as such, simpler to hike. The former one, however, needs to be climbed via shadier woods. In the year 1979, Lower Table Rock was dedicated in the form of a ‘nature preserve’ by Nature Conservancy.
