Cape Arago State Park provides a scenic headland where one can view sea lion colonies, seals, migrating whales, tidal pools, a sandy beach and hiking trails. The North Cove is used for beachcombing, fishing and observing the off-shore colonies of sea lions and seals at Shell Island. The South Cove has a sandy beach and superior tidepools where one can observe intertidal plants and animals.
