The city of Eugene is located at the southern end of the Willamette Valley in Oregon, USA and covers an area of 10.4 sq km. With the Willamette River flowing through it and Douglas fir forests bordering it on three sides, the ‘Emerald City’ has been blessed with a gorgeous landscape.
Eugene has a cool, temperate climate. The average summer temperature is 27°C, while in winter the average temperature is around 8°C.
Originally inhabited by Native Americans, the city was founded by Eugene Skinner in 1852. With a population of about 130,000, Eugene is Oregon’s second largest city.
Rated as one of the top ten cycling cities in USA, the city boasts of many biking and jogging paths, most of which traverse through the city’s parks. The University of Oregon is a popular tourist attraction. As the hosts to many cultural festivals, the city lives up to its motto of ‘The World's Greatest City of the Arts & Outdoors’.
