Newport city is a coastal city located in the Lincoln County of Oregon State of United States of America.
It is famous for the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Nye Beach and Rogue Ales. According to the 2000 census the population in the city was found to be around 9,532 which is a nearly 15 percent increase in growth as compared to the 1990 census.
The latest census measure in 2006 has recorded a population growth of about 10,240. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town is supposed to have a total area of about 10.4 square miles, out of which 8.9 square miles is covered by land and only 1.6 square miles is under water. Hence considerable portion of the area is covered by water.
The major occupation of the people here includes construction, food services and agriculture. The climate remains cool throughout the year with a temperature of 15 degrees in the day and mild to moderate snowfall in December.
