The Moravian Book Shop is known as the oldest bookstore in the world and was established in the year 1745. It was conceived when Samuel Powell of the Church’s Crown Inn was appointed by the Moravian Church in order to operate the store. After shifting to many locations, it was finally moved near the Central Moravian Church to the publication building of the church in 1871.
