Tourist Guide Block Island
Block Island, situated in the Atlantic Ocean is a part of the Rhode Island of the US state.
The Island was given its name by The Nature Conservancy and it is one among the twelve sites in “The Last Great Places” of the Western Hemisphere. Some of the Presidents including Ulysses S. Grant and Bill Clinton have visited this Island.
New Shoreham is the only town of this island. The island is well-known as a tourist destination and it is famous for fishing, bicycling, sailing, hiking and beaches.
The historic lighthouses on this island are Block Island North Light located on the northern end of the island and at the southern east end of the island is the Block Island Southeast Light.
A major portion of the northwest end of the island is under the underdeveloped natural area and it serves as a resting place for birds.
During the summer season, the island is crowded because of the sailboat racing which lasts for a week.
