Bloomsburg is township area located at the banks of the Susquehanna River. Columbia Country It is the only incorporated town in Pennsylvania, situated 40 miles southwest of Wilkes Barre. Bloomsburg was discovered by James McClure in 1772. It remained as a small village until 1870, when it was incorporated as a town. As per the 2007 census, the population of Bloomsburg was 12627. Majority of its inhabitants is White. Bloomsburg has a larger percentage of females than other places in USA. The town is one of the two main communities of the Bloomsburg- Berwick Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pennsylvania Route 42, Pennsylvania Route 487 and U.S.Route 11 are the major highways in Bloomsburg. The climate of Bloomsburg is mild in summer with temperatures ranging between 60 and 70 degree Fahrenheit. The winters are very cold with temperature reaching 20 degree Fahrenheit. The average rainfall is 4.44 inches.
