East Stroudsburg is located in the Monroe county of Pennsylvania state of the United States. More over it is situated near to the Poconos region of the Pennsylvania state. The former name of East Stroudsburg was Danbury, which was changed due to geographical reasons. This borough is created by the act of the Pennsylvania state legislature and it was incorporated in the year 1870. It is called as the industrial centre of the Monroe County because of the rail road facility. The population of east Stroudsburg consists of 10000 as per the census reports of 2000 with a density of 3,445.6/sq mi or 1,330.4/square km. According to the reports of the US census bureau, this borough consists of a total area of 3.0 square miles, which has an elevation of 466 feet. It follows the Eastern Standard Time as the official time zone. The education for this borough is provided by two institutions, one is the east Stroudsburg area school district which is the sub division of east Stroudsburg university of Pennsylvania.
