Johnstown city is situated in Cambria County in Pennsylvania in United States. It is the principal city of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the Metropolitan Statistical area, which includes Cambria County. It was settled in the year 1770, and was formerly organized as a town in the year 1800 by Joseph Johns, the Swiss German immigrant. Initially, Johnstown was known by the name, Schantzstadt, but was changed to Johnstown.
