Reading the headstones at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia is like reading the “Who’s Who” of American history. High-ranking Civil War Generals, signers of the Declaration of Independence, passengers from the Titanic and Olympic Athletes have been buried on the 95 acre property honored with the title National Historic Landmark in 1998. The tranquil setting offers a place for people to appreciate the rare trees and flowers growing there as well as monuments, mausoleums and statues.
Admission is free, the cemetery is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 Monday through Friday, and 9:30 to 4:30.
