Gray’s Ferry became the namesake of the area because it was on the banks of the Schuylkill River and an important crossing by ferryboat (and eventually by train and car) to Philadelphia starting in the late 1700s , A pontoon bridge has been replaced by a 4-lane divided highway bridge for ease of personal and commercial transportation needs. Follow your nose to the scent of the finest Philadelphia bread and rolls, at d’Ambrosio Bakery, originated by an Italian immigrant over 70 years ago. One hour north of the Gray’s Ferry neighborhood are the thrills and spills of 10 roller coasters at the popular Dorney Park Amusement Park and Wildwater Kingdom. Cool off on the attractions at the largest water attraction park in the United States.
