Like a sparkling jewel aimed at the sky, the $180 million Cira Centre in University Town is eye candy inside and out. The 29-story prism of reflective glass is a uniquely-designed addition to the Philadelphia skyline and is a combination of office, shopping and dining. University Town on the West side of Philadelphia is also home to The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel and Penn Universities and numerous research facilities. Thousands of students live in the Super Block section of town thus the presence of a diverse mix of dining options including Lobster Mac and Cheese or Teriyaki Filet Mignon with wasabi mashed potatoes at The Continental, Gnocci and Italian Sausage at Maggianos, modern Latin cuisine at Alma de Cuba and Rock Shrimp Tempura at Morimotos. Check out Baltimore Avenue on first Thursdays in the fall for dollar night where shoppers call indulge in dollar focaccia’s, pint beers, ice cream and brownies plus dollar tickets for the Curio Theatre. The Victorian Architecture of the residential section is charming.
