Reading is situated in Berks County in Pennsylvania, USA. Bordered by the Schuylkill River to the west, Mount Penn to the east and Neversink Mountain to the south, Reading covers an area of 26.1 sq km.
Reading has a humid continental climate. The average summer temperature is 24°C, while in winter the average temperature is –2°C. Summer and spring are the best times to visit Reading, as its flora and fauna are on full display.
Reading has a rich and significant history. Established in 1748, it was a military base during the French and Indian War. Although it has grown as an industrial town, agriculture plays an important role in the economy. The city has a population of around 90,000.
Reading’s most distinct attraction is the Japanese style pagoda on Mount Penn overlooking the city. Designated as the ‘Original Outlet Capital of the World’, the city is a shopper’s paradise.
