Strasburg is a ‘Mecca’ for rail enthusiasts. Often referred to as ‘Train Town USA’ because of its many rail attractions, it houses the Strasburg Rail Road which is a beloved tourist attraction and a cultural icon of Strasburg.
The town was founded in 1693 by a French trader, Pierre Bezaillion. Lined with quaint shops and homes, the town has a historic ambience. Its predominant Amish culture is evident everywhere. Agriculture is the predominant industry, but tourism is also a significant contributor to the town’s economy.
