Tourist Guide Wilkes Barre

The city of Wilkes-Barre is situated in Luzerne County in north-eastern Pennsylvania, USA. Located at the centre of the Wyoming Valley, it is bordered by the Pocono Mountains to the east, the Endless Mountains to the west and the Lehigh Valley to the south.  It covers an area of 18.6 sq km.

Wilkes-Barre has a humid continental climate. Summers are warm with an average temperature of 27°C. Winters are moderately cold with an average temperature of 5°C.

Founded in 1770, the area gave a boost to the Industrial Revolution with its rich coal mines. The city has grown into a modern industrial city with a population of around 45,000.

With the Susquehanna River flowing through it, the city is blessed with a beautiful landscape. Outdoor activities can be enjoyed in summer and winter. Wilkes-Barre attracts visitors throughout the year as it is constantly buzzing with activities and is gradually becoming a vacation hotspot.
