Wilkes Barre is a small town which is known for Isaac Barre and John Wilkes who were the members of Parliament.
The town is home to the F.M. Kirby Center of Performing Arts, the Luzerne County historical society and the Coal Street Park. Luzerne County Courthouse was built in the period of prosperity of Wilkes Barre and depicts the history of the county through murals and mosaics.
The Sordoni Art Gallery which is situated on the campus of the Wilkes University is an art gallery which offers a range of exhibitions of photographs, sculptures, paintings, watercolors and more prepared by well known international, regional and local artists.
Lion Brewery Incorporated is a brewery which merges rustic architecture with modern and contemporary brewing technology. Visitors can avail of tours of the brewery which are available every Saturday afternoon at 12 pm.
