The city of Cranston is situated in Providence County in the state of Rhode Island, USA. It covers an area of 77.5 sq km and has a population of over 80,000. The landscape is characterized by forests, meadowland and residential developments.
Even though Cranston has a humid, continental climate, the temperatures are moderated by the Atlantic Ocean. The temperature in summer ranges from 28°C to 18°C. In winter, the temperature ranges from 3°C to –7°C. Its location makes it prone to hurricanes, although this is not a frequent occurrence.
Incorporated in 1910, the town’s illustrious past is evident in its museums and historic buildings. This bay side area is known for its contrast, residential and commercial complexes in the east and rural areas in the west.
Its proximity to the capital city, Providence, has made it a major commercial and industrial centre.
