Jamestown is a small town situated on Conanicut Island in south-eastern Rhode Island, USA. The city covers an area of 91.5 sq km and has a population of around 5,500.
Jamestown has a continental climate, where the sea winds moderate the temperatures. The average summer temperature is around 22°C, and in winter, the average temperature falls to –2°C. Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year.
Even though the city was burnt by the British in 1775, a number of old buildings still remain standing. These buildings and other historical sites give visitors a glance into Jamestown’s history.
The city’s scenery is made up of abundant natural wonders like the rocky coast at Beavertail. The windmill overlooking the Newport Bridge and the historic lighthouse are some of the local attractions. Its location in the Narragansett Bay makes it an ideal location for boating and fishing.
