Tourist Guide Misquamicut
Misquamicut is one of the seven villages that make up the town of Westerly in Rhode Island, USA. Bordered by the Block Island Sound on one side, it has a population of around 21,000.
Misquamicut’s climate is characterized with warm summers and cold winters. The humidity level is high and constant throughout the year. The average summer temperature is 22°C, while in winter the temperature drops to –2°C.
Misquamicut is an Indian word for ‘red salmon’. Once known as Pleasant View, the area was purchased from Chief Sosoa of the Montauks in 1894.
The area is blessed with a beautiful coastline of surf and sand. The Misquamicut State Beach draws a large number of tourists every year and is easily the biggest attraction in the town. It also is also a cultural hub with its emphasis on art and a vibrant nightlife. Misquamicut is a great place where you can enjoy your vacation with the whole family.
