The town of Narragansett is situated in Washington County in Rhode Island, USA. Made up of salt marshes and rocky shores, it covers an area of 97.8 sq km and has a population of around 18,000.
The climate is warm in summer with an average temperature of 21°C. In winter, it gets very cold with temperatures falling to –2°C. Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year.
Incorporated in 1901, this farming village rapidly developed into a summer resort and fishing town. Narragansett became a popular beach resort town after people from around Rhode Island came here to take advantage of its sandy beaches, especially the Narragansett Town Beach.
Its attractive beaches, comfortable atmosphere and camping grounds have made tourism very significant to the economy. The Narragansett Towers, the only remaining part of the original Narragansett Pier Casino, is the most famous landmark in Narragansett.
